How much skin care product to use

The internet is buzzing with new skincare routines. Most of them are approved by aestheticians and dermatologists and they sure, are beneficial. But the real question is, not just the products but the usage. How much is enough? Is more better?

Well, in today’s article, our experts will address this query for all of you. First of all, more doesn’t always mean better. Sometimes you need to use a product only in a little quantity to get the most out of it. Using a product in more than the recommended amount can cause skin irritation, breakouts, clogged pores and even severe reactions like burning sensations.

Using too little can also be an issue as it would not help you achieve your desired results. This is why we are going to take each product and guide you on how much you should apply it.

Cleansers

You just can’t use them a little, especially if you wear makeup. However, depending on how much makeup you wear, you can reduce or increase your cleanser amount. As a general rule, pour a dime size blob and cleanse your face twice with a cleanser that’s suitable for your skin type.

Exfoliants

They are great as they remove the dead cells from your skin and give your skin a healthy glow. But again, using them can be tricky. Chemical exfoliants with BHAs remove excess oil from the skin which is why they are a great choice for acne prone oily skin. Exfoliants with AHAs are water based and work only on the surface to remove dirt and residue. In general, to prevent over drying, use exfoliants in small amounts in the beginning and adjust gradually according to your skin types.

Physical exfoliants are mostly granulated which is why they should be use only once or twice a week. Use a dime sized amount and don’t rub it harshly on the skin.

Moisturizers

It is a no brainer that everyone should use a moisturizer. However, using the right moisturizer according to your skin type is crucial for your skin’s hydration.

Acne prone or oily skin’s moisturizers are water based and should be used in small amounts. Moreover, moisturizers should be applied in circular motions so as to until they get absorbed in the skin.

People with dry skin should use rich moisturizers and should apply it twice a day to prevent drying and chapping of the skin, especially, during the winter season. Don’t forget to moisturize your self from head to toe, your body needs moisturization just as much as your face.

Serums

Serums are used for various concerns. They are concentrated liquids and must be used only in drops and not more. Make sure you apply serums after cleansing and before moisturizing.

Eye Creams

Even if eye creams are organic, you must remember that your eye area is very delicate. Treating under eye bags or dark circles with more product is not the right way. Apply only a little amount and absorb it with circular motions.
